Work At Hart Farm

It is integral to the mission of Hart Farm to maintain an open place for the community and cultivate a learning space for those interested in farming and social integrity.  We strive to collaborate with and include all workers in the working systems of the farm.  With this in mind, while we want everyone to understand the macro system of the farm, delegated and particular jobs for individuals are assigned as well. This allows the business to function more fluidly and gives each individual specific ownership of his/her/their work.

Hart Farm hires 1 or 2 part time assistant growers every growing season. This position is for a positive, hard and fast working farmer with 1 year experience of working on a farm.  The job entails working 2-4 days a week from 8/9am-5pm.  Pay for the 2018 season is $13/hr with lots of veggies, fruits, flowers and eggs to take home as well. Though there is some flexibility we define the working season for assistant growers to be April 1 – October 1.

The Assistant Grower understands the ins-and-outs of the farm. He/She/They is responsible for daily chores, field preparation, cultivation, harvesting, washing and packing produce. This means that the Assistant Grower is comfortable communicating with the Farm Manager and does not have a problem delegating his/her/their own jobs. The Assistant Grower will be trained in the beginning of the season and is expected to develop ownership of his/her/their work. The Assistant Grower may have work at farmer’s markets or in other vending situations and is expected to represent the farm in a respectful, friendly and considerate manner.

If you are interested in applying to be an assistant grower at Hart Farm for the 2018 season please email us your resume and a letter of interest.  We will interview all qualified applicants and will finalize the position by March.

Farm volunteers are welcome at Hart Farm anytime!  We can always use more hands for the many jobs that continue through the growing season.  If you are interested in volunteering on a regular basis we offer a work-trade program.  For those available to volunteer their time of 1-4 hours a week, we will give $20-$30 worth of produce.
