On August 15th we celebrated. We celebrated the summer, we celebrated the harvest, we celebrated friends and family and we even celebrated the thunderstorm that rolled through.
Amiel Stanek and Lauren Schaeffer cooked an amazing gourmet meal for the 35 of us. We savored the appetizers of farm eggs, lamb ham and fresh tomato crostini. After the startling, sudden down pour of rain we found some tents to shelter us and enjoyed fresh basil and lambs quarters pesto, garden lettuces and Hungry Ghost bread. For the main course we were wowed by the cryptically named “weekend polenta” which featured Wingate Farm chicken, carrots, peppers and other garden gems. After many glasses of wine and many laughs all around the table we ended the night with peaches and minted cream and cookies topped with black currant jam. A true delight!
